Email List Building for Tourism Operators

Building a healthy email list is something that many tourism businesses neglect. Getting new subscribers to your email database is an important part of marketing your business, as email campaigns are one of the only digital channels that let you communicate directly to your potential customer.

We will help formulate effective tactics to build your email list and put in place the proper technologies to make sure potential customers are engaged as soon as they subscribe.

What is an email list

An Email List is a list of users who have provided you with their email address and are happy for you to contact them.

You can have many different types of lists. Users might give you permission to email you about certain things but not others.

Who can be added to your email lists

Not everyone will want to be on your email list. That is why it is important to ask for their permission before adding them to a list.

For instance, you might want to add all of your existing customers to your email list. However, if you have not explicitly asked their permission to be added to the list then you need to err on the side of caution. Alternatively, you can add them to the list and then immediately send them an email asking them to opt-in to be on the list. It is important to remove anyone who does not opt-in to list on their own accord.

There are edge cases where you don’t need to explicitly ask permission before adding users to a list. For example, if you’re running a campaign that gives people a special if they provide their email then it is assumed that by the act of providing their email address they are happy to be added to the list.

Even if all of the emails in your list have been added with consent, you still need to give them the option to opt-out of your emails on every email you send out. Once a user has unsubscribed you cannot add them back to the list without first getting their consent.

How we build your email lists

There are lots of different tactics we can employ to grow your email list. Some of these tactics include:

Website Sign Up

One of the most simple ways to get users to subscribe to your list is to ask them on your website. The following spots can be used to ask users to sign up:

  • Email sign up sections
  • Contact forms
  • Booking forms
  • Gate content

Sign Up Campaigns

We can help you set up a dedicated campaign for building your email list. Usually, these campaigns work by offering the user some kind of incentive for signing up to the list. These incentives might include:

  • A special offer
  • A chance to win a prize
  • Member-only benefits
  • etc.

We also create the email automation that gets triggered when a user subscribes to a list. This initial email campaign serves to engage the user immediately after signing up and provides you with your first opportunity to connect with them.
